Bosnia and Herzegovina's largest ammunition manufacturer, Igman in the town of Konjic, has halted production and sent workers on compulsory annual leave after Serbia stopped supplying gunpowder, a key ingredient for its operations.

Director Adnan Prevljak has ordered all Igman workers to take the remainder of their 2025 annual leave collectively, starting Tuesday, until gunpowder deliveries resume.
The Serbian government in June imposed a ban on the export of weapons and military equipment, causing delays in gunpowder deliveries required by defence industry companies, including Igman.
Exempt from annual leave are employees working in climate chambers and security guards, as well as staff in internal protection services, occupational safety, fire protection and general security, the company management said.

Serbia's export suspension comes amid the Israeli-Iranian conflict and frequent criticism from Moscow over arms shipments to Ukraine. Igman d.d. Konjic, majority-owned by the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is located in northern Herzegovina and is one of the country's largest industrial employers, with 1,410 staff.
